Your wake up call (a knock on the door) is at 6:00 am. Breakfast is at 6:30 am and you leave for the morning game drive promptly at 7:00 am. The morning drive is in Etosha National Park which is just a short ride outside of the Ongava Game Reserve. You have to give your passport to the guide so he can get everyone registered at the main gate. The park keeps track of which countries visitors are coming from. Once inside the park the task of finding the animals begins! The guides help each other with animal sightings by radioing one another once an animal is spotted. Some days you see a lot of animals and some days not so much. The drive ends around 12:30 pm. Lunch is at 1 pm back at the lodge. Afternoon tea is served at 3 pm. The evening ride begins about 3:30 pm. Right before you leave, the guide confirms what you would like to drink for your "sun downer" which you do at sunset. After the "sun downer", the drive back to the lodge begins. Dinner is at 7 pm and after that it's bed time. You are escorted back to your room, most times by an armed escort. Once inside, you can not leave until after 6 am the next morning. You can not even use the deck because animals could be walking around so you spend the time getting ready for the next day. There's no tv or wifi in the room! To me that is actually a nice break from the outside world.
